
Land’s End: A Free Will Film
2016
Interactive film installation in collaboration with Ann Dunham.
Conceived and created in 30 days for the 2016 New Orleans Film Festival, this site specific installation consisted of a simulated room built out of sheetrock and wood, angled so that only one position in the exhibition space allowed for a correct perspective on viewing the piece. 2 projectors mounted near the ceiling displayed a website consisting of 55 unique “Rooms”. The website consisted of embedded streaming videos, animated gifs, and sounds heard via headphones. It was navigated in real time during exhibiting hours, via two mice, by clicking on three possibilities: the table, the window, and a shape which resembled a painting on the wall. With over 3000 potential room combinations, each user experiences a different version of the film and inevitably hears something different from the other user. All digital and physical material was created in the month leading up to the opening through a collaborative process with Ann Dunham working remotely in Berlin.

Feeling too satisfied leads to discontent.
I admit it, I’m needy, I admit it, I’m vulnerable. I trust uncertain things and am betrayed. I have faith in this.

What represents me in the world is my body.
I am the driver and engine of the machine, if I don’t interact nothing happens. The machine doesn’t move on it’s own.
I create a problem for myself. What is fun: finding an interesting solution to my problem.
God becomes man becomes fish becomes barnacle goose becomes featherbed mountain.
Chance furnishes me with what i need. I’m like one who stumbles. My foot strikes something, i look down, and there is exactly what im in need of.

You have to be there, you have to feel the light, the smell of the room and the others there with you
The universal constant numbers: structure of DNA, the speed of light, the weight of carbon, the mass of an electron, the strength of gravity, essential values we can measure precisely and which never changes. If these fine tuned numbers didn’t have the exact number that they do nothing in the universe would exist. Who set the numbers?
Change is the one aspect of reality that can be called permanent.

swiftly, an underlying current..recurrent principle, a law is a law until it is changed, when a particular thought isn’t found in the sacred doctrine it must be searched for within……using a clever turn in forward movement, built up in the imagination, the directed fantasy, giving expression and form to something that does not yet exist, something new and unique, while also restoring, no, renewing the previously existing order, the one that always came before anyway and comes back again……

why liberate the country if afterward there is no meaningful goal of life for each one without meaning it makes no difference where we waste away

how the intruder often is doesn’t come too close, because yelled at any closer, smart little devils, watching from the corners, looking down from the balcony, always hiding a bit, like an oppressed voyeur… one can never come up as close as one would like to, one doesn’t even hear everything illuminated in a, a conspiracy of light… individual instincts are being opposed by both parties it seems… on the day of the rocking it will be the need to delete files in order to make space, like the subconscious making room for conscious, this unconditional devotion is the only way to flourishing (loses the words transform to butterflies drifting away)

Genius: breaking reality down into parallel hypotheticals and in moments he is in complete control of fate itself. however constantly blown away by the spectacle of life, it is only in these slices of moments where information floods in on his perception.

We frantically gather the honey of the visible, in order to store it in the great golden hive of the Invisible. conversion of the dear visible and tangible into the invisible vibration of our nature. introducing new vibration numbers into vibration spheres. the various materials in the cosmos merely different vibration rates,

breaking the letterbox rectangle, bending it against itself, and hiding parts of it within the reality of the simulated room. a spotlight on the parallel
goal is not a solution, it's an entrance point to more unsolved area of creation and spectating
a film which can only be a prequel of itself because the focus is on the observer rather than static characters the characters and fixtures of the film pieces live on through the user's toggling interest.
working with our current experiences by way of cinematography. but not traditional or popular forms cinematograhy because they have nothing to do with working with current and actual experiences in a philosophically lending manner
we use current world events, happenings from our daily lives some beautiful, strange, and unsettling, and staged scenes which play out philosophical concepts through improvisation.
we set up these scenes that allure us , break them down , and have them play with/against one another. culling images of objects from world and the net to
soothsaying meets shamanism for the chronically stimulated.
